Two recent events have had a significant effect upon the nuclear community in Hungary. The first event is the Annual General Assembly of the Hungarian Nuclear Society (HNS), which took place at the end of May 2012.

On the 12 September 2012, following an agreement reached between Hungary and Vietnam, a programme of nuclear training for forty Vietnamese university lecturers began at the Institute of Nuclear Technologies of the Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME), in Hungary.

The Joint Hungarian-Korean Laboratory for Advancement of Nuclear Thermal-Hydraulics Safety was opened in the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, Centre for Energy Research on 25 March 2013.

On 29 and 30 November 2012, the Annual Symposium on Nuclear Techniques took place at the Paks NPP, in Hungary.  It was organized by the Hungarian Nuclear Society.
